Coming into this series all eyes were on the Rockets and how quick they can take care of business against the undermanned Lakers. However, through two games, to much of everyone’s surprise the Rockets are trailing the series 0-2. Even with the last minute news of Kevin Durant missing game 1, the Rockets were still favored with the Lakers missing two out of their best 3players in Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. The greatness of Lebron James even at the age of 41 was in question when it came to whether or not he would be able to carry this undermanned roster to win a game against the Rockets let alone win the series as a whole.

The Rockets have had questions all throughout the regular season about their offensive identity even with the brilliance of Kevin Durant. Last year, they took the Warriors to 7 games in the first round but have failed to show that resemblance as a team thus far through 2 games. Before the season, their starting point guard Fred Vanvleet went down with an ACL injury and the loss of their one “true” ball handler has plagued them all year and their deficiencies in that position are being shown even more in the playoffs. They are having to rely on a “plug and play” point guard in Amen Thompson and Reed Sheppard both who have not carried the point guard to the levelVanvleet has.

A few weeks before the regular season a report came out that the star player on the Rockets Kevin had a burner account that had consisted of various “tweets” of him undermining his teammates and speaking on their flaws. Such tweets have now resurfaced with the recent struggle of the Rockets offensively. Sengun has played terrible through two games and he is supposed to thw bright spot next to Kevin Durant. Many fans and those on social media are claiming that “Durant’s comments on his teammates were accurate all along”. Even though the account ended up not being Durant’s supposedly it has now become a popular topic once again. Its a team chemistry killer. Like many critics have been saying he doesn’t even like the dudes he’s playing with.

With the Rockets now slated to go back home for the next two games, they will not only have regroup mentally, but figure out how to create more production as a team offensively. Failing to score over 100 points in the first two games is just not going to translate to wins especially with the defensive identity the Lakers have shown thus far. Lebron James is a remarkable 32-0 in his playoff career when leading 2-0. The Rockets are up against a tall task and will certainly be making history in a way if they comeback to win this series. With the greatness of Kevin Durant and star center Alperen Sengun amongst others, the Rockets should have enough to make it a series and even comeback against the undermanned Lakers. With the track record of Lebron and his greatness, its trending towardsnanlakers upset.

My predction is 4-2 Lakers advacning to the second round.
