The Role We're looking for a detail-oriented and analytically minded Sports & Media Data Analyst to join the Sideline Society Media team. This is an unpaid internship built for the aspiring data professional who wants hands-on experience turning real audience insights into actionable strategies for a growing sports and culture media platform.

  • Track and report on SEO performance and provide recommendations to improve search visibility

  • Identify which platforms and channels are driving the most traffic to our website

  • Monitor newsletter subscription data and analyze conversion rates from site visitors to subscribers

  • Collaborate with the editorial, marketing, and social media teams to share insights that inform content and growth strategy

  • Present findings in clear, digestible reports that the broader team can act on

  • Support the development of a weekly newsletter digest highlighting recently published articles and platform updates to drive subscriber engagement (coming soon)

What We're Looking For

  • A passion for sports, culture, and the stories data can tell about how audiences engage with media

  • Proficiency in data and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, SEMrush, or similar platforms

  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate numbers into clear, actionable insights

  • Excellent communication skills — you can explain data findings to a non-technical team

  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage ongoing reporting independently

  • Familiarity with basic coding languages such as Python or SQL is a plus but not required

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Marketing Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field

What You'll Gain

  • Hands-on experience analyzing real audience data for a growing media platform

  • Exposure to SEO strategy, newsletter growth, and digital marketing analytics

  • Experience collaborating across editorial, marketing, and creative teams

  • Mentorship and feedback from the leadership team

  • The opportunity to grow alongside a brand building the next chapter of sports and culture media
