The Last 40 minutes of March Madness: Michigan and UConn Collide for the Crown.

Michigan has spent this entire tournament putting the country on notice and then some. This hasn’t just been a run it’s been a statement. Every round the Wolverines have steamrolled through every opponent. They had a dominant performance against a top tier Arizona team that felt less like a matchup and more like a message. When Michigan is rolling they don’t just beat you they overwhelm you.

At the center of it all is Yaxel Wenborg, anchoring a team that thrives on interior dominance. The Wolverines are as punishing as it gets inside wearing their opposition down for all 40 minutes. And when the perimeter shots start falling, that’s when Michigan becomes borderline unguardable a complete offensive machine with no real weakness to exploit.

But UConn isn’t Arizona….

The Huskies bring a completely different challenge one built on spacing, shot-making, and discipline. Led by perimeter weapons like Braylon Mullins and Alex Karaban, UConn stretches defenses to their breaking point. They don’t just shoot they shoot with volume, confidence, and rhythm. When they get going it could be a long night for any defense they face.

And then there’s their coach Dan Hurley.

Hurley’s teams don’t beat themselves. They defend, they adjust, and most importantly they control tempo. That’s where this game flips. Because while Michigan wants to turn this into a physical war in the paint, UConn is built to slow it down just enough to make every possession matter and then capitalize from the outside.

This isn’t about who’s been more dominant up to this point. It’s about whose identity travels under pressure.

Michigan’s size and interior presence will keep this tight. They’ll have moments where they look like the better team. But over the course of 40 minutes, UConn’s perimeter firepower and defensive discipline will create just enough separation.

In a game defined by contrast, power vs. precision, paint vs. perimeter it’s the Huskies balance that wins out.

I believe Michigan has the better team.

But the team of destiny this March is the UConn Huskies.

Prediction: UConn 74 - Michigan 69
