Whether you know her from Disney Channel or from any of her top-chart albums, Olivia Rodrigo is a force in pop music culture. In just the past five years, she has grown exponentially, with three hit albums, three grammy awards, and her recent success launching her first all-women lineup music festival.

Olivia Rodrigo was born and raised in Temecula, California. She grew up with a passion for music and theater and it soon turned into more than just a passion. Her family moved to Los Angeles as her acting career began to take off. She debuted in the movie, An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success (2015), then went on to the Disney Channel original series, Bizaardvark (2016-2019).

Olivia’s next project was her main character role in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, with her co-star, Joshua Bassett. Love interests in the show turned into speculation that they were together in real life and were widely believed to have dated from 2019 to 2020. Olivia even wrote some original songs for the show, including “All I Want” and “Just for a Moment”.

However, 2021 was her real big break into music. Olivia released her smash hit single “Drivers License” which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and truly launched her into pop superstardom. This song brought about a lot of speculation after Olivia referred to a “blonde girl who always made me [her] doubt” and fans pointed to Sabrina Carpenter. This former love shot into pop culture news and basically catalyzed Olivia’s career in music.

That same year, she released her debut studio album, Sour, and went on to win three Grammy Awards in 2022.

Not long after in 2023, she released her second studio album, Guts, with her single, “Vampire”, that also debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in July and September. This accomplishment made her the first artist to debut lead singles from two career-opening albums. On top of this, Olivia went on the Guts World Tour that ran for 16 months and completely sold out internationally (I was lucky enough to attend opening night insert pic).

Olivia’s most recent album, You Seem Pretty Sad for Girl So in Love, released this year and received universal acclaim. Fans and music critics shared that this album showed growth and maturity in her music overall. She even broke a record with this being her third number 1 album on the Billboard 200. Olivia also announced The Unraveled Tour to promote her new album, which completely sold out all her 86 shows within minutes. This tour begins next week, with opening night on September 25th in Hartford and runs until May 2027.

2026 seems to be a great year for her so far, as she also launched her first all-women lineup music festival, Daisy Chain Fields. This festival had guests like Stevie Nicks, Chappell Roan, Doechii, with of course, Olivia as the headliner. This festival also sold out quickly and had over 45,000 attendees. Basically everything that Olivia creates turns into something amazing that everyone wants to be a part of, this is how she’s built such a successful career in this space of pop culture. She’s truly a pop princess in every sense and I’m excited to see how she keeps building from here. Maybe a fourth hit album or a Coachella headline?

We’ll have to wait and see what Olivia has in store for us.
